What is Data Centre Management?

 

CableSolve has a host of new Data Centre Features in R6. A short description and videos of the new features are shown below. Please contact Avantex directly for further information or to organise a demonstration:

Football Field Views

With the release of CableSolve R6.1, organisations are now able to quickly and easily view a wealth of information related to their Data Centre.

Customisable views can be created to show information such as Rack Free space, Rack Used space, Actual Power utilised (via live reading of device power information) and weight, to name but a few.

Rack Layouts

Rack Layouts are automatically generated within the CableSolve software, without the need for any additional third party applications or add-ins.

Each rack has a front and rear view, with identical layouts also available on the Hand Held barcode scanners.

Power Utilisation

Complete Data Centre or individual equipment power usage can be obtained, recorded and reported on within CableSolve.

Via the system 'templates', plate values and actual power values can be stored and historically reported on.

Power readings can be obtained directly from a device (if available via snmp or wmi), whether it be a server, a switch, or an IP enabled power rail.

 

Scripting

CableSolve has a power scripting feature that allows clients to add, remove or change components and attributes within the database.

Scripts can be written in either C#, or VB.net and can be triggered to be run on equipment that is changed (i.e. manually), or periodically (i.e. every 2 minutes).

Some of the scripts provided with CableSolve can calculate the DCiE/PUE of a Data Centre, actual and depreciation value of equipment in a Store Room, or the last login name to a device, to name a few.

Active Monitoring

CableSolve is able to actively monitor equipment ports on your network.

If a port detects a new device has been connected or disconnected, then an alert will be shown in the ‘alerts’ panel.

Organisations are able to ‘accept’ the new devices and they will automatically be added in to the database with the relevant details.
